Dow up 100 points on gains for Caterpillar, IBM shares

Led by positive gains for shares of Caterpillar and IBM, the Dow Jones Industrial Average is up Wednesday morning. Shares of Caterpillar CAT and IBM IBM have contributed to the blue-chip gauge’s intraday rally, as the Dow DJIA is trading 104 points, or 0.3%, higher. Caterpillar’s shares have risen $5.62 (2.0%) while those of IBM are up $2.42, or 1.7%, combining for an approximately 53-point bump for the Dow. Also contributing significantly to the gain are Amgen AMGN, Boeing BA, and Dow DOW. A $1 move in any of the index’s 30 components equates to a 6.59-point swing.
